Why We Do Limited Runs
Here at Blue Ridge Overland Gear, we frequently do limited runs of our bags, pouches, and gear organizers. And unlike businesses that just resell or outsource production, we actually design and manufacture our products in-house. So, if we can make anything we want, why do limited runs? WE ARE A SMALL AMERICAN MANUFACTURER
To understand our product pre-orders and limited runs you need to know a few things. The first thing to know is that we are a small American manufacturer. Smaller than you think! Even though we serve adventure lovers all over the globe, the reality is we are a small, and lean, manufacturing facility. That means our production capacity, even though it is increasing incrementally over time, is still limited.
LIFECYCLE OF PRODUCTS
Secondly, besides limitations on our production capacity, there may be several reasons why a specific product gets taken out of our regular production cycle and relegated to limit runs only. Demand for that product may have dropped, or materials for that product are no longer easily acquired. And sometimes a product becomes a limited run because it is still popular but we need to reserve our capacity for making other products.
CONTINUING TO INNOVATE
The nature of small scale, batch manufacturing is akin to making craft beer. Some flavors make up your standard offering year round, and others are only seasonal, or even experimental. We enjoy dreaming up new products to improve your outdoor and overland adventures - and limited runs is one way we can continue to innovate and bring you better gear built for the long haul.
