Self-Built Toyota Tundra Overland Rig: Full Tour (Video)

On one of the guided overlanding trips two years ago Eric hit an unassuming mud puddle with a well placed rock, on an unmaintained backcountry road. He soon discovered his 2018 Tacoma truck was a giant paperweight. It was a mishap he could not have replicated. Hydrolocked, the engine was a total loss.

After talks with the insurance company, they started over with a Toyota Tundra. Trying to keep costs down, Eric and Rachel decided to tackle the build-out themselves, transforming the truck into an overlanding rig that was even more capable for off-road adventures. This was a DIY project that took teamwork and persistence with the end result being a 'home away from home' that was perfect for the two of them.
